Introducing External Data Connectors – Knowledge Hub

We are thrilled to announce a major update to our Boudica Torc Sovereign AI: External Data Connectors.

While Boudica already features a powerful Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system that indexes your existing document repositories, our new External Data Connectors allow you to extend Boudica’s intelligence directly into your live business systems.

The Solution: Live External Connectivity

Boudica Torc can now query your live systems in real-time during the inference process. This means Boudica doesn’t just answer based on “what we wrote last week,” but “what is happening right now” for a full real-time picture of your business.

*Provided you have the required permissions to access the requested information based on what access-controls have been selected by your company admin.

We support two primary connectivity methods:

1. External Databases (via ODBC)

Boudica now connects directly to your live databases to extract structured data for analysis, providing secure real-only access to this information within your sovereign AI Chat.

This is ideal for:

  • Financial Analysis: Querying live transaction data or sales figures.
  • Operations: Accessing production logs or inventory levels.
  • Legacy Systems: Connecting to older ERP systems that don’t have modern APIs.

How it works:

  1. Install the appropriate ODBC driver.
  2. Configure a connection string in /etc/boudica/connections/database.conf.

Use natural language commands to query: “use inventory database…” followed by your question.

2. Application APIs (via REST/OAuth)

For modern SaaS and internal applications, Boudica can integrate directly via RESTful APIs. This enables Boudica to act as a conversational interface for your business software.

Example Use Cases:

  • Customer Support: “Show me all high-priority tickets from the last 24 hours.”
  • HR & IT: “What is the current status of the server migration project?”
  • Sales: “List all accounts that haven’t been contacted in 30 days.”

Security Built-In:

We understand that connecting to live systems requires enterprise-grade security. Boudica supports:

  • OAuth 2.0: Secure, token-based authentication.
  • Scoped Access: Connections are scoped to specific endpoints and permissions.
  • Audit Logging: Every API call made by Boudica is logged for security monitoring.

With Boudica Torc External Data Connectors:

The lead securely connects to the required databases and asks in the chat: “The CNC machine is showing Error Code E-402. What is the current spare part availability for this component, and what was the last service performed?”
